ECON 1280 - MONETARY THEORY AND POLICY Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Course focuses on financial system and important role it plays in facilitating growth in the U.S. Economy. Financial intermediaries are discussed with emphasis placed on the banking system and its regulator, the federal reserve system, the federal reserve’s influence on money supply and interest rates and nonbank public’s demand for money is discussed. Role of monetary policy in promoting price stability and economic growth discussed in the context of a U.S. Economy that is growing more integrated with worldwide economic events.
