Materials Science and Engineering Minor

Requirements
The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science is offering a minor for students who are not majoring in Materials Science. A total of fifteen (15) credits is required to complete the minor, as specified below. Students must obtain a GPA of at least 2.0 for the courses taken towards the minor.
Required
MEMS 0023 - INTRODUCTION TO MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING or ENGR 0022 - MATERIALS STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES
Core Courses
Students must pass at least two of the following core materials science courses:
Elective Courses
Any of the following courses can be used to complete the fifteen credits required for the minor:
Notes:
- Students must have passed the prerequisites, or approved equivalents, before taking a MEMS course.
- Regarding courses from other departments that are substantially equivalent to MEMS courses:
- A student cannot take a MEMS course that is equivalent to another course they have taken.
- A student cannot apply a course from their major toward a materials science minor except if it is one of the MEMS courses listed above.
