Teacher Certification

The Teacher Certification ARCO is designed for all students who are entering the CASE 4+1 program, which is designed to prepare students for professional licensure as a PK-12 Special Education and a PK-4 General Education teacher in Pennsylvania. The Teacher Certification ARCO is the only pathway available to students when they enter the CASE B.S. program.

General Education Coursework
The CASE BS follows the Dietrich general education requirements.
Foundational Courses
These courses are foundational education credits and can be taken before admittance into the major officially. HHD 1002 and TLL 1041 are required. Students are required to take either EFOP 1001 or TLL 1581.
Major Courses: Non-Methods Coursework
These are courses for the major, but they are not considered methods courses.
Major-Area Coursework: Methods Classes
These are courses that should only be taken by students in a teacher education program. The Department of Education in PA only allows teacher education majors to take methods coursework.
