Return to: School of Education All students complete a minimum of 30 credits in this non-thesis degree. Students in the program complete 10 shared courses (30 credits) which focus on evidence-based best practices for teaching that centers equity-oriented education. This approach also allows students to dive more deeply into topics relevant to their professional goals by offering engaging transdisciplinary work in STEAM (12 credits) and Literacy (9 credits). Students will also take core courses (9 credits) in central theoretical stances, research in the classroom, and on digital media for learning across the curriculum. The students will create a capstone project in the form of a professional portfolio. In addition to graduating with their master’s, all students would also have completed the requirements for the STEM endorsement from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (available to PA licensed teachers).

Program Requirements - Effective Spring 2024
Beginning in Spring 2024, the Curriculum & Instruction, MEd program will follow the below course requirements.
All students complete a minimum of 30 credits in this non-thesis degree. Students in the program complete 10 shared courses (30 credits) which focus on evidence-based best practices for teaching that centers equity-oriented education. This approach also allows students to dive more deeply into topics relevant to their professional goals by offering engaging transdisciplinary work in STEAM (12 credits) and Critical Technology and Digital Media for Learning (12 credits). Students will also take two core courses (6 credits) to fulfill program requirements. The students will create a capstone project in the form of a professional portfolio. In addition to graduating with their master’s, all students would also have completed two university certificates to support their interdisciplinary academic and professional needs - STEAM & CriT-DML .
General Core Courses (6 Credits)
The following two courses are required.
STEAM Education Courses (12 Credits)
STEAM courses are required and will earn the student a university certificate. This certificate has a STEM endorsement from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (available to PA licensed teachers).
Critical Technology and Digital Media for Learning Courses (12 Credits)
The Critical Technology and Digital Media for Learning (CriT-DML) courses are required so students can obtain the CriT-DML university certificate.
