Return to: School of Public Health This program is a collaboration between the School of Social Work and the School of Public Health, Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences. The MPH/PhD joint degree program prepares students to fulfill leadership roles in public health systems or academic settings. Students in this program have opportunities to work with local organizations on a variety of planning, evaluation, and research activities.
The MPH/PhD joint degree is designed to be completed in four to five years including time for dissertation research. The BCHS requirements for the MPH/PhD joint degree are listed below. Students should refer to the School of Social Work for the most current PhD requirements.
- 45 Public Health credits (6 credits of public health-relevant electives taken in Anthropology can be applied tot he 45 credit requirement)
- 72 total credits, including coursework and research
- practicum
- essay or thesis (Social Work dissertation fulfills this requirement)
