LING 0080 - ASPECTS OF LANGUAGE Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Nothing characterizes human beings better than their ability to use language. One aim of this course is to introduce you to what languages are like, how they are used, and how they change. Another aim is to show you some connections between linguistics and other fields; psychology, anthropology, sociology and computer science. We will discuss how children learn languages, how brain damage can impair the ability speak, how animal communication compares with human language, and how programming languages are used to communicate with computers.
