Long Description This course provides an overview of the interdisciplinary field of applied linguistics at the crossroads of linguistic analysis and language-related issues in the social context (language as social practice), including the areas of L2 teaching and learning, language variation, bi/multilingualism, gender and language, conversation analysis, language ideologies or language policy. The course is meant to address student needs for continued development of their linguistic competence and their communication skills in Spanish. A particular emphasis will be placed on problems of interference by transfer of features from the native language to the target language using contrastive analysis. This course is taught in Spanish.
