Long Description The study of others leads back to ourselves. We learn about men and women from the past in order to compare their experience to our own, hoping that the comparison will make us more aware of the opportunities and limitations of present-day life. As an introduction to history, this course tries to suggest the excitement and uncertainties of studying the past. We begin at the time of the crusades, and continue through Renaissance and Reformation to the eve of Industrial Revolution.
