ENGCMP 0515 - PERSAUSIVE WRITING IN ADVERTISING Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Advertising is everywhere and producing ads that are successful, memorable, and persuasive requires a specific set of tools and no small amount of creativity. This course introduces students to the art and science of persuasive writing in advertising contexts. Students will explore foundational theories of persuasion and rhetorical strategy, analyze real-world advertising campaigns across a range of media, and develop practical writing skills for print, broadcast, digital, and social media platforms. Working from an understanding of brand identity and target audiences, students will learn to craft compelling copy tailored to specific rhetorical contexts and client needs. The course balances theory with hands-on practice, culminating in an original advertising campaign.
