Requirements
A Secondary Content Area teacher certificate (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Foreign Language Education) is combined with a second teaching certificate for Special Education grades 7-12 and a Master of Education in Special Education. Teaching candidates will study evidence based practices to improve adolescent learning through Special Education and Content Area coursework. Candidates will develop their professional teaching skills during practical experiences, in a variety of public middle and high school classrooms. The MOSAIC program is designed to provide future teachers with the skills, knowledge and experiences to be effective teachers of adolescents both with and without disabilities. The SETP 7-12 program is designed for teachers with an initial certificate for general education grades 7-12 and allows the student to add on a second Special Education 7-12 certificate, while earning an Masters degree in Education.
