Integrated Healthcare Certificate

Return to School of Social Work Return to: School of Social Work

The Integrated Healthcare Certificate Program prepares graduate social work students specializing in direct practice with the knowledge and skills necessary to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities in a variety of institutional and community-based health-related settings. The goal of the certificate program, which emphasizes leadership and advocacy, is to increase the number of students focused on health and social work. Students completing the Integrated Health Certificate Program will have a deeper understanding of the relationship between behavioral health (e.g., mental health, substance use) and physical health. New opportunities abound in health care for social workers trained in an interdisciplinary approach who are prepared to bridge the gap between health care providers and patient needs within a coordinated system of care.
