Clinical Translational Sciences Certificate

This certificate program in Clinical Translational Sciences provides students within MS or PhD programs in the health sciences the opportunity to develop expertise in conducting clinical and translational research. Though the majority of courses are in person, the certificate is considered hybrid because one course is offered online only. The core curriculum provides trainees with the basic set of skills that are required by clinical and translational investigators in all fields of interest. It is made up of 2 curricular cores: the first is the Research Core, which consists of 8 credits of courses in computer methods, clinical research methods and biostatistics. The second is a Regression and Ethics Core, which includes 3 credits of courses in Regression and ANOVA, Logistical Regression and Ethics in research. Combined with the mentorship from their graduate programs, this certificate provides added expertise and develops students’ ability to conduct clinical and translational reserach.

Detailed Admissions Requirements


Students must first be admitted into a doctoral or masters degree granting program in one of the Schools of the Health Sciences prior to their acceptance into the clinical translational sciences graduate certificate program. Once admitted for graduate study within a program, students may apply to the Institute for Clinical Research Education for admission to the certificate program. Students must be in good academic standing and possess a strong interest in clinical and translational science

Admissions Criteria

  • Applicants must meet the following requirements before filling out an online application.
  • Candidates must be in a graduate program (PhD or MS) in the health sciences
  • Candidates must have a high level of interest and potential for the pursuit of innovative clinical and translational research as a major focus of their career plan.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
  • TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo scores (when applicable)
  • GRE scores are not accepted

Timeline

The Certificate in Clinical Translational Sciences accepts applications from December 15 through February 28 each year. In order to guarantee that you are considered for admission, we must receive your application and all component parts by February 28. Students will be notified via email of admission decisions approximately 1-2 months following the close of the application cycle.

Financial Assistance

The Institute for Clinical Research Education does not provide financial aid. Unless students have other funding sources, they are responsible for covering the tuition costs, taxes, and fees associated with their course enrollment.
