MA Degree Requirements
A. Distribution-of-Studies Requirement:
1. Nine hours from Area 1 (Core Seminars).
2. Nine hours from Area 2 (History of Science).
3. Nine hours from Area 3 (Philosophy of Science).
B. Core Examination Requirement: Students must pass the end-of-term examination in each of the Core Seminars.
C. Language Requirement: Good reading knowledge of a second language besides English.
D. Research Paper Requirement: Students must submit a research paper in the history of science and a research paper in the philosophy of science. Evaluations of papers will be limited to a master’s pass-fail. A master’s pass on both papers is required for the M.A. degree.
D. Course Credit Requirement: A minimum of 30 credit hours at the 2000 level.
