Return to: University Honors College Completion of the UHC program would require 24 academic credits to be completed upon graduation. Of these 24 credits, a minimum of 18 academic credits of UHC approved honors courses that would include courses within approved school-based honors programs are required. A required minimum of 6 experiential credits that include academic research, independent study, approved study abroad via Pitt Panther programs, approved internship for credit, or approved Coop Program for academic credit. Approved experiential courses as part of approved school-based honors programs would also qualify. In addition to the curricular requirements, students would be required to complete the honors-specific Outside of the Classroom Curriculum that includes enhanced experiences for honors students that are not for academic credits. Minimum GPA of 3.25 is required for completed of the honors program upon graduation. Upon completion, students will receive their degree issued jointly from their academic unit and the honors college with “Honors” designated on the diploma. Students admitted to the honors college for the freshman year will be granted priority access to the honors living learning community with the residence hall. Honors students in good academic standing within the program will also be granted priority registration throughout their time as undergraduate students.

Admissions Requirements
The admissions process includes criteria for three categories of students: freshman admits, internal (Pitt) transfers and external transfers.
- The criteria for freshman admissions include: evaluation of two well-thought-out and creatively written essays; evaluation of extra-curricular activities;
- The criteria for external transfer admissions include: University admissions, completion of a minimum of two college semesters (24 credits) that meet the University of Pittsburgh criteria for transfer to credits, completion of intellectual curiosity and public good essay questions;
- The criteria for internal transfer (current Pitt students in all campuses) admissions include: Current Pitt transcript with minimum GPA of 3.50, completion of two semesters (24 credits), evaluation of intellectual curiosity and public good essay questions and one academic letter of recommendation from an instructor or academic advisor.
