MUSIC 2151 - INTRODUCTION JAZZ LITERATURE

This pro-seminar provides a critical review of writings on jazz, by analyzing and evaluating the development of the scholarly literature on jazz, focusing on the writings of some of the most influential critics and historians who have shaped the field. The writers will include Nat Hentoff, Ira Gitler, Leonard Feather, Mike Hennessey (England), Gunther Schuller, Andre Hodier (France) etc.
