GER 2110 - INTRO LITERARY & CULTL THEORY Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course offers selected readings in 20th century literary theory, with emphasis on the German tradition. We examine such schools” of literary theory as psychoanalytic (Freud), Marxist (Lukacs, Benjamin, Brecht), and reception theory (Jauss, Iser). Each is discussed within its historical context; moreover, the implications of each is tested in relation to a selected work of literature.
