MSE 2049 - TENSOR NETWORKS: COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR MATERIALS SCIENCE, ENGINEERING, AND BEYOND Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Introduction to tensor network algorithms. Topics include a general introduction to tensors; their description as matrix product states (MPSs); operators as matrix product structures (MPOs); MPS methods for minimization and time evolution; alternative tensor network structures; and applications of tensor networks to quantum transport, solution of differential equations, machine learning, and quantum computation. Example codes in Julia, based on the ITensor package, will be provided and worked through for each topic discussed in class.
