BCHS 3015 - COMMUNITY MAPPING AND INTRODUCTORY SPATIAL ANALYSIS Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course provides an introduction to the use of spatial data in public health. The two main goals are (1) to familiarize students with the use of geographic data in public health research and practice; and (2) to introduce basic spatial analytic skills applied to geographic and spatial data. Students will be taught how to use geographic information systems (GIS) to inform both community practice and research. They will learn how to create, manage, and analyze geographic data and gain hands-on experience applying these techniques to research questions. No previous knowledge of mapping or GIS is assumed.
