PIA 2448 - POLITICAL ECONOMY OF DEVELOPMENT Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course seeks to help you understand the causes of international inequality in the distribution of wealth. In simple terms, the course seeks to answer the question, “why are there rich nations and poor nations and rich people and poor people”? To answer this question we will need to understand something about the factors related to economic development and how those factors are tied to income distribution. The course will expose you to some of the major theoretical and empirical literature on the political economy of development.
