This certificate will provide a theoretical grounding in the principles of patient- and family-centered care for individuals with serious illness across the illness trajectory and at end-of-life, including a general overview of various aspects of EOL care, including pain and symptom management, social and spiritual support, communication skills, basic insurance coverage information, and legal aspects of end-of-life care.

Note: SWINT 2004 - Grief and Loss: Interventions, Implications & Understanding is offered every term in-person but it is also offered hybrid in Spring and Summer term. To complete the certificate students will complete this course once after taking NUR 2220 - Principles of Palliative and End-of-Life Care, totaling 12 credits.
