DP-Children, Youth, & Families Certificate

The DP Children, Youth, and Families Certificate prepares students to provide services and interventions to children, youth, young adults, and families through a wide range of public and private settings. 

Students complete Direct Practice specialization requirements as well as those of the certificate. DP students in this certificate complete 12 course credits and 12 practicum credits focused on children, youth and families

Students must complete two courses from the following list:

SWINT 2011 - SOCIAL WORK PRACT WITH FAMILIES
SWINT 2035 - INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE
SWINT 2042 - SOCIAL WORK WITH SUBSTANCE USE AND OTHER ADDICTIVE DISORDERS
SWINT 2049 - DIRECT PRACTICE WITH CHILDREN
SWINT 2063 - ISSUES IN CHILD MALTREATMENT
SWINT 2072 - SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE AND TRAUMATIC STRESS

Practicum

The DP specialization practicum placement (SWINT 2099; 12 credits - 720 clock hours) must be in a community-based setting (program, unit, or agency) with a primary focus on providing direct services and interventions to children, youth, young adults, and families. This may be within a public agency or a private provider agency.
