COSA Human Services Management Certificate

The COSA Human Services Management Certificate prepares students to pursue leadership opportunities in supervisory, management, and executive positions in a range of social work settings. Pitt School of Social Work is one of a number of leading macro social work programs to offer a management certificate in collaboration with the Network for Social Work Management (NSWM), a national organization supporting education and practice for human services management competency. Students pursuing this certificate must complete 12 credits covering NSWM competencies (https://socialworkmanager.org/competencies) in the areas of:
- Social Administration/Human Services Management
Students complete COSA specialization requirements as well as those of the certificate. COSA students pursuing this certificate complete 12 course credits and 12 practicum credits in the areas of executive leadership; resource management; strategic management and community collaboration. Students must complete a COSA specialization practicum placement in a community-based or human services organization to apply course knowledge, values, and skills in the organizational setting.

Practicum
The COSA specialization practicum placement (SWCOSA 2099; 12 credits - 720 clock hours) must be in a community-based or human services organization. This may be a private nonprofit organization or a public/government organization.
