This program is fully accredited by the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER).  

Admissions Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in any subject; 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Four prerequisite courses are required but can be taken as co-requisites with students’ plan of studies: 

•  Foundations of Special Education 
•  Teaching English Language Learners 
•  Supporting Literacy in the Inclusive Classroom 
•  Supporting Students with Disabilities in Inclusive Classrooms 

Student Teaching

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requires that all students must enter a teacher education program with and maintain an overall 3.0 GPA. If a student does not maintain a 3.0 GPA, they will be prohibited from student teaching or earning certification. A full semester of student teaching is required.

Comprehensive Milestone

Students must successfully complete a take-home comprehensive examination to earn the M.Ed. 

Graduation Requirements

• 3.0 or higher GPA
• Successful completion of all coursework
• Successful completion of full-time student teaching assignment
• Successful completion of comprehensive examination
