The undergraduate program in Natural Gas, Renewables, and Oil Engineering (GRO) is designed for students passionate about shaping the future of energy. Building on a foundation of mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, and reservoir engineering, the program prepares students to work across traditional and emerging energy industries. Students gain hands-on experience in determining rock and fluid properties, subsurface characterization, fluid production systems, and well drilling simulators aligned with ABET Program Criteria.
Recognizing the global transition toward sustainable energy, the curriculum also emphasizes renewable technologies, including solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric systems, energy storage, and carbon capture and storage. Students learn to evaluate energy systems’ environmental, economic, and energetic impacts, preparing them to lead in a rapidly evolving field. Core topics include drilling and completing wells, characterization and evaluation of geological formations, reservoir engineering, and fluid production systems.
Graduates are equipped for careers in energy engineering or for advanced study, with a broad, interdisciplinary perspective that positions them to drive innovation and sustainability across the energy sector.
