Applied Developmental Psychology, BS

Admission Requirements

• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• Completion of 48 credits of college-level coursework
  • For current Pitt students, applications for admission should be submitted during the term when 48 credits are completed typically during the sophomore year.

General Education Requirements (30 credits)

This program uses the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences General Education Requirement attributes. Students choose DSAS approved courses with the appropriate attribute to fulfill the following requirements other than when specific courses are listed (ex: Statistics)

Writing (6 credits)

• Seminar in Composition (ENGCMP 0200 or equivalent)
• Writing-Intensive (“W” course)

Statistics (3 credits) *

Choose one course from list:

• STAT 0200 - BASIC APPLIED STATISTICS  
• STAT 0800 - STATISTICS IN THE MODERN WORLD  
• STAT 1000 - APPLIED STATISTICAL METHODS  

Creative Work/Philosophical Thinking or Ethics/Literature (6 credits)

Students will take 6 credit hours from the approved lists in Creative Work, Philosophical Thinking or Ethics, and/or Literature

Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)

• PSY 0010 - INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY  *

Natural Sciences (3 credits)

Social Science (6 credits)

• PSY 0310 - DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY  is an additional option to the DSAS approved list

Global Awareness and Cultural Understanding (3 credits)

• Choose one course in Global Issues, Specific Geographic Region, or Cross-Cultural Awareness

Major Requirements

The ADP major requires updated yearly clearanes (PA Criminal Record and Child Abuse, FBI Federal Criminal History) and a current TB test.
