Communication Science

Communication Science is an important and unique path of study amid the changing healthcare landscape. Students who pursue this minor will receive a broad overview of aspects of the typical communication process and various disorders and will therefore be prepared to consider various career paths in health-related fields. The undergraduate minor in Communication Sciences will require a minimum of 15 credit hours in CSD courses taken at the University of Pittsburgh main campus through the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. All students will be required to take three core courses (9 credit hours) listed in Table 1 also listed under Required Courses. Students will choose two courses (6 credit hours) from the list of three optional courses (Table 2.) also listed under Elective courses. A minimum grade of C- must be earned in each CSD course to count towards the minor requirements. An accumulative GPA of 2.0 is required across the CSD courses required for the minor. Permission numbers for the courses indicated below will be provided for students pursuing the minor by David Bodnar, the primary Communication Science academic advisor. (All courses listed below are established courses within the Communication Science major.)

|
Students pursuing a minor in Communication Science will be eligible to participate have in all student clubs and organizations within the Communication Science program as well as any and all available paid and unpaid research assistant positions (based on the discretion of principle investigators and individual lab needs).
