Software Engineering

Requirements

The Software Engineering Concentration consists of a total of 9 credits.  Students are required to complete a total of three ECE electives in the areas of software design and algorithm development.  The requirements are as follows:

Software Design

Students must complete at least one of the following courses:

• ECE 1140 SYSTEMS AND PROJECT ENGINEERING  
• ECE 1145 SOFTWARE CONSTRUCTION AND EVOLUTION   

Algorithm Development

Students must complete at least one of the following courses:

• ECE 1147 ALGORITHMS FOR BIG DATA   
• ECE 1148 ALGORITHMIC THINKING  
• ECE 1149 - ALGORITHMS FOR COMPLEX SYSTEMS
• ECE 1180 COMPUTATIONAL MODELING AND SIMULATION FOR ENGINEERS   
• ECE 1774 COMPUTER ANALYSIS OF POWER SYSTEMS  

Courses applied toward the three elective requirements must be optional by the degree.  COE students may use ECE 1140  to satisfy the Software Design requirement.  However, they must still complete three non-required electives from the list above to obtain the concentration.
