Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship Certificate

Innovation and entrepreneurship have been credited as being key driving factors in the US economy. While it is true that skills in these areas are important for both starting a company as well as for adding value inside an existing corporation, innovation and entrepreneurship are equally important outside the commercial setting.  Creating innovative solutions to challenges and being able to deliver those solutions in feasible and scalable ways are vital to making an impact in commercial and non-profit / public organizations.

The Certificate in Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship cuts across the Swanson School of Engineering and into the College of Business Administration to offer students these diverse skills to complement the technical focus of their core disciplines. The program offers a comprehensive set of courses that address principles in design, business, and innovation, with emphasis on users and stakeholders, and takes advantage of our state of the art makerspaces.

A total of five courses are required for the Innovation, Product Design, and Entrepreneurship Certificate in the following areas:

AREA 1: Entrepreneurship

Students will choose at least one course. Note that only one College of Business course may be used to meet Certificate requirements.

AREA 3: Capstone Design Courses

Students will choose one of these courses or the Blast Furnace Program:
