Medical Education (Certificate)

The Certificate in Medical Education Program is intended for individuals who do not want to pursue a Master of Science but desire to take specific courses for added knowledge and skills in teaching or research. This certificate program is flexible and allows students to choose courses within the Medical Education program that align with their learning and professional goals. Students in this program typically choose courses in teaching and learning to enhance their skills as a clinician-educator at either a university or community-based program.

Admissions


Admissions Criteria

  • Candidates who are U.S. Citizens, non-citizen nationals, or lawfully admitted permanent residents of the U.S., or individuals who already hold a J-1, H1-B, or F1 transfer visa.
  • Candidates who have completed one of the following degrees: MD, DDS, DMD, DC, OD, ND, PharmD, PhD in nursing, and other disciplines involved in clinical teaching.
  • Candidates who possess a high level of interest and potential for the pursuit of long-term career focus in teaching and leadership positions in medical education programs.

Financial Assistance

All students are responsible for their own tuition.

Degree Requirements


The Certificate in Medical Education requires the completion of 15 credits, the majority of these credits (minimum of 9) must be Medical Education courses. There are no required courses for this certificate. Students are able to select courses in the Medical Education program that fit their learning needs, A minimum “B” grade is mandatory for all required coursework and a minimum of a “B-” grade is required to receive credit for any elective courses.  To remain in good academic standing, students must also maintain a 3.0 or better QPA.
