Long Description The Neurobiology of Learning Laboratory will provide a discovery-based neuroscience laboratory course within which students will use an invertebrate animal model organism to develop hypotheses regarding the neurobiological basis of learning, and then test these hypotheses using modern laboratory techniques (electrophysiology, genetic screening, molecular biology, behavioral testing, confocal imaging, and/or live cell imaging). This laboratory course is intended to not only provide a framework to teach these valuable neuroscience techniques, but also develop critical thinking skills, hypothesis testing skills, and an understanding and appreciation of the evolutionary basis for the neuroscience of learning.This course fulfills a requirement for a writing intensive course in the neuroscience major.
