NURNP 2321 - HEALTH TOPICS CONCERNING PSYCHIATRIC MANAGEMENT Minimum Credits: 2 Maximum Credits: 2 This didactic course focuses on theory and management skills relevant to the primary care of pediatric, adult, and older adult patients living with common psychiatric-mental health problems or diagnoses. A biopsychosocial perspective will be utilized, and the following content areas will be covered: 1) the impacts of medical problems and diagnoses on psychiatric functioning across the lifespan; 2) differential diagnostic considerations related to physical health conditions that mimic or frequently co-occur with psychiatric conditions; 3) the impacts of psychiatric treatment on physiological functioning and health outcomes; and 4) support services for those living with psychiatric illness to aid in meeting primary, secondary, and tertiary care needs.
