NURNP 2318 - CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIC MANAGEMENT Minimum Credits: 2 Maximum Credits: 2 This didactic course focuses on theory and concepts relevant to the management of children, adolescents, and young adults with common psychiatric-mental health problems or diagnoses. A biopsychosocial perspective will be utilized, and the following topic areas will be covered: 1) normative child and adolescent development with an emphasis on cognitive and social development; 2) evaluation and diagnosis of youth presenting with psychiatric-mental health symptoms; 3) non-pharmacological and pharmacological management of mental health problems in youth; and 4) the impact of youth mental health problems from a family perspective, with an overview of family engagement strategies provided.
