BIOENG 2167 - MANAGING MEDICAL PRODUCT INNOVATION Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will provide the student theoretical and practical knowledge of product management and product development. The introduced principles and tools are used today in the creation of products, software, and services in healthcare businesses and other industries. The course covers the entire innovation process from Business Strategy, through Product Development, and into Product Launch. Knowledge is communicated using dynamic lectures, case studies, team exercises, and guest speakers from industry. Focus of exercises and homework will be the application of learned tools and methods to a clinician sponsored project. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in the following areas: Business Strategy Market Research Portfolio Management Process New Product Innovation Process Culture, Teams, Leadership Life Cycle Management Design and Development Tools Even though some class content may overlap with other courses that the student may take, this course will provide different and unique perspectives. The course will convey large parts of the PDMA (Product Development and Management Association) Body of Knowledge and students will receive a PDMA issued certificate.
