ECON 1360 - ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Basic economic theory is applied to issues involving the joint interaction of economic activity, the environment, and use of natural resources. The debate over the sustainability of economic development, the renewability and/or depletion of natural resources, and the effects of pollution on environmental quality will be surveyed, including the issue of greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Benefit-cost analysis, optimal tax and regulatory schemes, public goods, property rights, emission rights markets, and other economic policy instruments/concepts will be studied.
