LING 1650 - ACQUISITION OF VARIATIONMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Upon completion of this course, students will: understand how variationist theory accounts for second language acquisition (SLA); develop a knowledge of variationist theory in order to be able to evaluate critically empirical research; be able to write a successful academic abstract; present empirical articles and original projects with clarity and to create an academic handout; apply the theoretical and methodological concepts covered in class to an original final project, which includes the creation of an elicitation task; and, develop professionally.
