PSYED 1080 - PSYCHOLOGY AND THE MEDIAMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Psychology and the media focuses on impact of electronic media (radio, television and internet) upon society, especially children. Course introduces students to various psychological theories (e.g., Social cognitive theory, information processing, uses and gratifications theory) to explain how we respond to and learn from the media. Topics receiving special attention include media violence, advertising, health-related behaviors, news, media effects upon academic behavior, and cultural issues.
