LING 1253 - PIDGIN AND CREOLE LANGUAGESMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course surveys the new languages that have sprung up in various parts of the world and under various historical circumstances when people who speak different languages come into contact with each other. These contact languages are called pidgins as long as they are spoken only as second languages, and creoles if they become the main language of a speech community.
