HIST 1026 - STATES AND SEX IN THE AMERICASMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will trace the evolution of official interest in popular reproductive practice in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean from 1800 to 2000. How and why have states sought to regulate sex and its consequences? How have regulations treated people differently on the basis of race, class, marital status, and sexual orientation? And what rights and protections have women and men sought to demand from states? When have they been successful?
