HIST 0400 - EAST ASIAN CIVILIZATION TO 1800Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course introduces major themes in the history of East Asia. It analyzes the relationships between East Asian thought systems; political, economic, and social institutions; and foreign influences for the purpose of understanding the forces that shaped the East Asian tradition. The course focuses on how this distinctive tradition produced two very different societies in China and Japan.
