HIM 1475 - HIM NON-TRADITIONAL SETTINGMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 An overview of health information systems in community-based facilities emphasizing information requirements of ambulatory-care centers, behavioral health, substance abuse, rehabilitation, emergency medicine, occupational health, long-term care, sub-acute care, home health care, hospice, dialysis, managed care, correctional facilities, dental care, and veterinary care settings. The role of the health information manager as a consultant in these settings is discussed. HIM consultants/professionals in these areas are invited to lecture as guest speakers from each of these settings. A 20-hour project is a major component and entails having the student conduct the project as a consultant in one of the health care areas listed above.
