ITAL 1088 - TOPICS ITALIAN AMERICAN STUDIESMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course is an introduction to the new interdisciplinary field of Italian-American studies with a particular focus on how that area of scholarship can shed light on our understanding of the past century of Italian-American culture in Western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. The class will consider the portrayal of Italian-Americans in literature and film from the interconnected perspectives of literary-historical interpretation.
