ADMPS 2053 - ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT 1Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This is the first of a two course sequence for M.Ed. students in the higher education management specialization. The course explores the relationships between organizational theories and the four essential components of higher education institutions strategy, structure, technology, and culture, and their practical application in complex higher education institutional settings. Heis are examined as evolving social, political, and cultural systems within resource-constrained and performance-driven environments. Contested ideas are explored through multiple perspectives that include public officials, boards of trustees, senior administrators, faculty members, staff, and students. Attention will be given to organizational characteristics that either adapt to a changing external context or may cause impediments. This course is grounded on research-based scholarship and globally-relevant case study examples from Heis in the United States and abroad.
