This course examines the basic problems and principles of language policies in general and language planning and implementation specifically in the education of linguistic minorities. The nature and effectiveness of education, including bilingual education programs, experienced by linguistic minorities are considered as are the societal forces that impact and interact with the various forms of institutionalization.
