BIOENG 1380 - MEDICAL IMAGING SYSTEMS 1Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 A systems perspective introduction to the fundamentals of medical imaging techniques used to generate cross-sectional images of patients. Emphasis on use of multi-dimensional Fourier Transforms to develop the generalized central-section theorem used in tomography and the imaging equation used in MRI. The critical concepts of image snr and image quality will also be introduced. MRI and X-ray CT are used as two sample modalities to explore these basic concepts.
