AFRCNA 1025 - HIST/MUSIC AFRC & THE DIASPORAMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This interdisciplinary course focuses on the interrelation ship of history and music in the orally-based cultures of Africa; its diaspora. Using oral traditions and recorded music, the course will demonstrate first, how history can be used to interpret music and how music in turn is a medium for disseminating historical information, and second, how the interrelationship between history and music informs politics, religion, theater and other areas of black life.
