HAA 1512 - AMERICAN SCULPTUREMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course surveys American sculpture from the founding of the nation to the present, with special attention paid to the role played by sculpture in public life. Through a combination of lectures, readings, and frequent visits to local sculptural sites we will explore such themes as the nature and function of monuments, the politics of race and gender in the representation of the human body, and the transformation of public space in modern times.
