NROSCI 1016 - PHYSIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY NEURONSMinimum Credits: 7 Maximum Credits: 7 This is an honors course, involving both lecture and laboratory experiments. The first half of the lecture material covers the electrical properties of nerve cells and of neuronal communication. Topics include the resting potential, voltage- and neurotransmitter-dependent ion channels, action potential generation, and fast synaptic transmission. The second half examines the chemical processes involved in communication between neurons and their targets.
