Long Description This course introduces students to the capabilities and limitations of common manufacturing equipment used in engineering practice. Students will explore fundamental manufacturing processes, including manual and/or CNC milling and turning, sheet metal operations, and basic fabrication techniques. An introduction to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) provides students with a basic framework for interpreting engineering drawings and understanding how design intent is communicated to manufacturers. An emphasis is placed on designing parts with manufacturability in mind, giving students a foundational understanding of the capabilities and limitations of typical machine shops and fabricators.
