Long Description This course investigates the creative potential of surface, image, composition, texture, color, and material experimentation through woven structures on a tapestry loom (frame loom). Students will build looms, gain knowledge in hand-spinning, and weave a series of conceptually and formally related tapestries. Technical instruction and practice will be contextualized through readings, lectures, and presentations that address both contemporary weaving practices and historical antecedents of this ancient and global art form.
