Long Description Filmmaking is often taught as a list of rules: stay on the 180-degree line, match eye-lines, use the rule of thirds, follow continuity, write what you know, cut on action, edit to serve the story. But what happens when filmmakers reject those rules outright? In this class, you'll explore filmmaking strategies that challenge rules-based approaches¿in order to¿break with cinematic conventions and push filmmaking in¿new¿directions.¿ This course is a Category III elective in the Film and Media Studies major and minor, and a Topical Elective in the Production Track.
